EVAN TAUBENFELD INTERVIEW

ALBR: Hello Evan! First, we would like to thank you for attending this interview request from ALavigne.com.br. Congratulations for the amazing job on The Black List Club and on Avril Lavigne's new album!

ALBR: Some fans alredy said the BLC's lyrics have affected their lives and touched them on a personal level. Did you ever expect your words to have such an impact? What’s it like hearing / knowing that?
EVAN: It's the highest compliment a songwriter can receive. The fact that these songs could ever help or influence people keeps me getting up in the morning.

ALBR: Did you ever have to sit down and force yourself to write? Or it always comes out naturally?
EVAN: At times its really natural, at other times its not as easy. It really depends on the project, The Black List Club, Avril's & my solo stuff is almost always fun. It's not always easy, but its never work. Other projects I do are just as much work as going to an office.

ALBR: We assume you take good care of your voice. Or not? What do you do before a show to warm it up? Have you ever had any professional vocal training?
EVAN: I'm like half super serious about my voice, half don't give a shit. I studied with a number of teachers over the years and eventually developed my thing. I'll go see Ron Anderson once or twice a year to check up on my warmups and technique but other than that I'm kinda just out on my own now. I have tons of CD's of warmups that I use depending on what I'm doing(I have a morning one, a show one, a studio one etc.) Other than that I don't smoke, don't gargle glass or anything so I'm usually in fine shape to sing. On the other hand, I don't give a shit about like dairy, caffeine, eating before, during etc. I warm up, then I sing, the rest is whatever.

ALBR: Could we be the first ones to know the BLC's debut single and/or debut album title?
EVAN: Our first single is "Pumpkin Pie". It's probably my favorite song I've written. The album has no title yet, but we're working on it.

ALBR: What do you think about Brazil? Do you plan to visit us some time? What's the first word that pops up on your head when you hear the word "Brazil"?
EVAN: From everything I can tell it's great. I never got to go when I was with Avril so I can't wait to come ROCK with the BLC.

ALBR: As we all know, you're always out there helping Avril on a couple concerts and stuff. Did you already plan something for Avril on BLC album? Maybe a song you wrote together, or even a duet?
EVAN: Actually, she helps me all the time. I play her the BLC shit and she gives me tons of feedback and help. We're also there for each other whenever we need help tweaking a tune or something. It's great.

ALBR: Can you tell us a bit more about the song "Innocence" you worked on with Avril? It's definatelly one of the most beautiful songs on the album. Not just the lyrics, but all the instrumental sounds very strong making this song very unique. How did you guys feel after hearing it all done for the first time?
EVAN: I think we both instantly knew that it was incredibly special. The first time I heard the final version I cracked a huge smile, it couldn't have turned out better.

ALBR: We were all stunned by an amazing acoustic performance last year at the Roxy Theatre, that was later broadcasted by MSN to all the fans. How great was it to be back on stage and perform a big setlist with Avril again?
EVAN: It was a blast, especially playing with Devin & Av together.

ALBR: What's "The Best Damn Thing" about working with Avril Lavigne?
EVAN: I've learned a ton from her about writing and singing, it's been priceless knowledge.

ALBR: We recently found out that you and Devin will be part of Avril's next single "The Best Damn Thing". Can you give us more details about the video?
EVAN: I'm actually in bed with strep throat, bronchitis, & a sinus infection typing this before I pass back out. So I unfortunately won't be in the video (shooting tomorrow*), its a huge huge bummer.
TBDT video will be shot on February 28th!

ALBR: Can we expect Evan Taubenfeld on a few "The Best Damn Tour" concerts? Maybe both bands on tour together?
EVAN: I think it's too early to know for sure, it's certainly possible. We love her so much and she's so supportive so I'd think its not too far fetched. At the same time, she has some incredible bands coming out with her and I'm sure she needs no help from the tiny little BLC.

ALBR: Thanks a lot Evan for this amazing opportunity and everything you're still doing for us, Avril fans. Everything you write and work on together turns out perfect. We can't wait to see you out there with your band. Good luck on your career. One last thing: can you please leave a message to our team and visitors?
EVAN: You guys are fucking incredible!! Your support keeps us doing what we do. The biggest reward I could ever ask for is having you enjoy our music. See you SOON!

DEVIN BRONSON INTERVIEW

ALBR: Hello Devin! First, we would like to thank you for attending this interview request from ALavigne.com.br. Congratulations for the amazing job on Avril Lavigne's band, and now on The Black List Club!
DEVIN: Thanks. It is shaping up to be a very good transition.

ALBR: We know you've alredy heard of ALBR before. Did you ever visit our website? If so, what do you think about it?
DEVIN: Your site rocks!! i wish i could understand the language though.

ALBR: Can you tell us more about the process of recording the Black List Club's album? What was the biggest influence behind it?
DEVIN: Recording the BLC album was a very different process for all of us i think. Our producer did things much differently than i was used to. No day was ever the same which made it a very musical experience for us. It allowed all of us to have opinions and be objective about songs as opposed to individual parts that we were playing. As far as influence on the record we all come from very diverse backgrounds of music. it would sometimes mean fighting between us because we all thought we had the answers but at the end of the day it made great music.

ALBR: What's your favorite thing about being in the studio making an album?
DEVIN: for me it was getting to see how john fields (our producer) works. He is a very musical person and so unbelievably smart. he would sit there and hear something in his head that would be brilliant that nobody in the room had even thought of.

ALBR: Is there any significance behind the band name?
DEVIN: this may sound like a contradictory statement but to me the name means being in a club of kids who think for themselves and go against the norm.

ALBR: Musically speaking, what can fans expect to hear from the BLC's album?
DEVIN: Pure fucking power pop mayhem!!!! there are huge songs on this record if i can say so. there is a ton of personality on this record to which is so important now a days.

ALBR: Along with success comes the trash talking, specially on message boards and blogs. Does it affect you at all?
DEVIN: You have to learn not to let that affect you and your opinions.

ALBR: How do you see your band a year from now? Any big dreams?
DEVIN: I see us headlining the rock n rio festival!

ALBR: Can you tell us what a typical day on the road is like for a musician on tour? What can a future musician expect being part of a touring band?
DEVIN: wake up in a strange town and not know what time it is..... go explore and look for food........go to starbucks and hang out until soundcheck...... eat dinner....... drink vodka........ rock onstage!!!...... eat pizza, meet with fans.......get on the bus and watch family guy or the office..........go to sleep and repeat.

ALBR: You alredy played in Brazil back in 2005 on Avril's Bonez Tour. What did you think about the brazillian audience and the shows? Do you expect to come back here with BLC some day?
DEVIN: I loved our show in brazil!!! i had such a great time there to. i wish we could have spent more time there actually. i am sure we will be down there with the BLC sometime really soon

ALBR: Speaking of Avril, you just left her band to dedicate all your time on The Black List Club. Tell us "The Best Damn Thing" about working with Avril and what are you going to miss the most.
DEVIN: Avril is one of my best friends and such an unreal talent. i am really gonna miss our nights hanging out after the gigs. one time she ended up shaving my head which was so funny!!! i am sure we will do a bunch of stuff with avril and i am always gonna be there for her if she needs me.

ALBR: We recently found out that you and Evan will be part of Avril's next music video "The Best Damn Thing". Can you give us more details about it?
DEVIN: I dont really have any details. evan and i are in the middle of finishing our record and she called and asked us to come down and be in it. for all i know i am going to get slimed again like the "he wasnt" video. it is actually tomorrow so we'll see....

ALBR: Is there any artist/band you'd love to play with some day?
DEVIN: MUSE. their music has meant so much to me in recent years. in my opinion they have become our generations pink floyd. matt bellamy is such a great talent.

ALBR: Thanks a lot Devin for this amazing opportunity and everything you're still doing for us, Avril fans. We can't wait to see you out there with The Black List Club. Good luck on your career. One last thing: can you please leave a message to our team and visitors?
DEVIN: Hey Brazil! This is Devin from The Black List Club. Just want to thank you all for every bit of support you have given us over the years. I can't wait to meet all of you in person one day soon.
